Wicketkeeper batter Urvil Patel joined the Chennai Super Kings squad as a replacement for Vansh Bedi in TATA IPL 2025. Urvil plays for Gujarat in the domestic circuit and is known for his hard-hitting abilities. He has been a part of the Gujarat Titans setup earlier in the IPL. In the limited chances he got in IPL 2025, Urvil showcased his ball-striking abilities during a flamboyant 19-ball 37 against Gujarat Titans. He enjoyed a great domestic season in 2024/25 which included a record-breaking 28-ball century against Tripura in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. This was the second-fastest hundred in T20 cricket and the fastest by an Indian. He backed that up with a 31-ball hundred against Services in the 2025/26 Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, which means that he now has two of the three fastest T20 centuries by Indian players. IPL 2026 could well see Urvil getting more opportunities to shine on the biggest stage.
